This one of the NHS's smoking adverts used to help educate the audience of what smoking does to you in aim to help stop them smoking. This advert was produced in 2012 and it shows a man in his back garden and uses ASMR to hear him smoking, along with this it has a narrator telling the audience the consequence of smoking and on the actual cigarette that the man is smoking it shows like a mutation and this makes me believe this is what happens to a persons body when they smoke. Shocking an audience in this sort of way is an effective way of advertising because it shows the audience the real affects of smoking. However, it is not always appropriate to advertise using this method because it can cause trauma to a young person watching the advert and also the shocking advertising may not be necessary to the actual product. For example: one of skittles band adverts show a man killing himself via a gun and his blood is rainbow. The type of shock adverts that are acceptable are the ones used to educate people of the consequences of certain things but the ones that are used to advertise a product. for example: skittle, using titillation and sensual scenes to their advertising is unacceptable.

This is the THINK! advert, that spreads awareness of child road safety. The shocking part about this advert shows a child not looking properly at the road and crossing at the wrong part of the road and this caused the child to get ran over and then it shows the correct way to cross the road and therefore educated children on how to cross roads.
