In the film, The Dark Knight, there are certain motion scenes and images that are deemed very violent and filled with adult humour. The film contains strong fantasy violence and sustained threat and this is why the age certification is a 12A and this means that it is not suitable for children under the age of 12 unless they are accompanied by an adult. Furthermore, it may not just be the actual scenes in the film that could be deemed unsuitable for children under the age of 12 unless they are accompanied with an adult but also the characters within the film such as, the joker, two face etc. can be deemed unsuitable for children under the age of 12 even if they are accompanied by an adult,
these characters in this film may not be suitable for children under the age of 12 even though they will be accompanied by an adult because the character the joker, it a clown and therefore may strike fear in the eyes of the audience and the character two face may traumatise the audience. I believe that this film should have the certification of at least 15 because the film consists of violent scenes, adult humour and strong language along with the characters in it like the joker and two face and even Batman may be deemed as not suitable for children under the age of 15 because he is also violent and is dressed in all black and this could also send fear to the audience. However, I do understand why regulators rated this film as a 12A because it is a film based on a very popular hero saving people, sending people to jail but it is the way he does it in this film plus the characters and scenes in the film that make me believe that the film should have the certification of 15.
I think that the joker and two face act as very significant characters in the film The Dark Knight as they both act as the nemesis of the Batman because the joker was a psychotic anarchist mastermind who, portrayed himself as an agent of chaos and rose to power in the criminal underworld by thrusting Gotham City into turmoil and drew Batman ever closer to crossing the fine line between heroism and vigilantism, between being a hero and becoming just like his enemies. In addition to this, two face was once an upstanding Gotham City District Attorney, named Harvey Dent is hideously scarred on the left side of his face after mob boss Sal Maroni throws acidic chemicals at him during a court trial. This then changed him psychotically and then resulted in his name becoming Two Face.
