Pride

The film Pride is a film that has been created and distributed by a movie making company called Calamity Films in 2014. Since, Calamity Films are a small independent company that needed to outsource the distribution of the film to worldwide conglomerates so the film would be a success as it was essential it was because Pride was Calamity Films first production.
The UK distributors of the film Pride were 20th Century Fox, BBC Films, BBC Two and Pathe. Two of these distributors 20th Century Fox and Pathe worked together as a joint venture, which means two or more companies come together to sell their products and this joint venture consisted of  20th Century Fox distributes the home release. The other two distributors are examples of conglomerates but aren't associated with the 20th Century Fox, BBC Films and BBC Two would put the film on TV so that it can be broadcasted and therefore viewed by the audience. However there are two different versions of the film Pride, one created by Calamity Films and the other created by CBS Films and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in 2007. In the US film Pride the two companies that distributed the film are CBS and Sony and they worked together in a partnership to create the film. CBS Films was responsible for the films theatrical release, to the big screens etc. where as Sony Pictures created the physical copies of the film, such as DVD and Blu-Ray. At the same time of the production of this film the two companies where in an agreement and this is were Sony Pictures were responsible for the distribution of all of the CBS films. However, throughout the rest of the world there are different distributors and have no relation with each other as distributors and their country except from Pathe who distributed the film in France as well as the UK and all the other distributors see each other as competition and motivate each other to produce and distribute better products.
Calamity Films approached these distributors as there aim was to cover up the marketing prospect of their film, this suggests that they mightn't have the knowledge required to be able to market to target audiences so having distributors benefits Calamity Films because they have gave the responsibility of the distribution of the film to other companies and make the film more successful as it had bigger companies than Calamity distributing the film as this gives them a bigger name to back the film up which suggests that the film is good and will bring it more attention by different audiences.
